Also a better cpu lets me avoid a cpu bottleneck later with a 4000 series gpu when they come out and im getting one at that point as i can't justify 3000 series card as i have nothing that takes advatange of it yet. 200-300€ for a decent motherboard and 250-500€ for decent overclockable ram. The CPU will be the last one for my socket without replacing the ram and motherboard so its going to cost more that that. And waiting on the GPU is a good point on my opinion as i can always upgrade it later and gain more fps with an even better GPU, My old GPU served me for 6 years just fine and that was just a GTX 760, This gpu is way faster than that. So both of thouse would have to be upgraded to gain benefit with a GPU. Also the VR can't take advatange of the extra horsepower as i cant up the resolution or hz on it. 200 to 300fps does not matter if you cant actually see it with a 144hz screen. Well the thing is i dont really feel like spending 850€ on a GPU with this small upgrade in realistic performance. So i want to hear thoughts about this what would you do. as i have a H150i 360mm AIO to cool the whole PC so unless the 4000 series 16 core runs way hotter than current ones there should be no problems to keep it cool. (More than 1-2fps) The cooling is enough for the 16 core though. I'm not really planning to overclock the ryzen anyways unless there is meaningful gains in gaming and production for it. I know currently that the Motherboard, Asus Prime-P X570 can seemingly use the 3950x without overclocks. ![]() I also have plans to turn this PC into a server after i stop using it so thats why i also think about the 16 core cpu. I dont really need more powerful GPU just yet since i play at 1080p 144hz. Since i do render from time to time what you think would be the best course of action. I would also like to keep my 2070 Super around for a backup gaming machine as its a rather good card that i personally like. ![]() ![]() Probably the more better idea in the short term would be to buy a good 3000 series or rdna 2 GPU to replace my 2070 super but i was thinking about waiting until the 4000 series nvidia and RDNA 3 release as i would have to buy either a 3080, 3080ti or 3090 to have any meaningful gain on the fps on the current games i play. So i have had an idea to buy up the AMD 4000 series toptier 16 core CPU when they release since its the last generation that is fully compatible with my current socket and board.
