![]() I've tried other text editors in hopes of getting line numbers, syntax highlighting, etc. If I work on something long or need a break in the middle of typing, I make a little "restore point" for my text simply by saying "save". That txt file sits in a folder that us cloud-syncd with versioning I can flip through the last month's voice-typed texts, in case I ever work on something long and lose it somehow. This is "the essentials" I use it a ton, so there are other important pieces to it. Since I use it a lot, I setup a "dictate" macro that pulls up notepad to edit a specific txt, and a "finish dictate" macro that does a save copy all close paste. ![]() I use notepad, which gives everything I need for the typing part. Regarding typing, most apps do not handle dictation directly well enough. Sorry to hear about your RSI pains praying for your health, and hope you find relief. Am using a simple Nokia phone headset mic that I turned into a boom mic so it's always in the same position from mouth Made lots of voice macros to automate stuff I do a lot (happy to share them and explain how they work). works way better than I'd expect, after training (the pc, and myself). My use of WSR is primarily office work, ie outlook, whatsapp desktop, writing docs. Doubt Dragon would give me anything more. Been using it over a year now, superbly glad I found it. Read about WSR ( not windows dictation bar thing! That's annoying, IMO). So, was about to shell out the cash for Dragon, as I expect their newer versions are apt. most helpful: not use keyboard and mouse. stand/sit desk, massaging arms, all somewhat helpful etc. mouse goes to my other hand, figured trackpad even better. Played with Dragon some years ago, just for fun, was OK, but a bit clunky. Have been a computer geek and IT business owner. WSR is a free builtin in Windows Vista, 7 and 10. I'd say, give Windows Speech Recognition a try. What is everybody’s personal experiences with it? Would you recommend it?Īre there free softwares that are equivalent or is Google Docs in your opinion equivalent? I am excited about the software but don’t want to spend the money if its going to fail on me and I can’t get it back. However, I’ve seen a number of negative reviews about it recently, specifically its customer service, bad changes between v13 and v15, and software issues on installation. I’ve seen that Nuance Dragon Professional Individual v15 can do this. I often do voice memos on my iphone while walking as well. Its useful, but often gets what I say wrong, and I often have names it doesn’t know. I’ve used Google Doc’s speech recognition. I’m looking for a software to help with my rsi and enable me to do voice recordings on my phone and later do speech to text. I’m a writer whose recently been dealing with repetitive stress issues due to typing.
